Workday Rising 2023
My Key Takeaways
The Workday Rising 2023 event in Barcelona was a huge success, with over 900 minutes of Braindates and countless opportunities to connect with industry professionals, learn about the latest trends and technologies, and share best practices. As always, the Braindates remained my favourite part of the event, offering a unique chance to engage in meaningful discussions and exchange valuable insights with fellow attendees.
This year, several reoccurring themes emerged during the braindates, including:
Discovery Boards: Many users were interested in learning more about this relatively old functionality in Workday, and how it can be used to enhance their workflows and improve their user experience. If you’re interested in learning more about discovery boards, feel free to comment below, and I’ll be happy to share our Discover Discovery Boards presentation.
Practical Applications of AI: There was a lot of interest in understanding how AI can be applied in real-life scenarios, and how Workday’s offerings can help organizations streamline their workflows and improve decision-making. I had the opportunity to share some live demos on stage with my colleague Doug Male. Many people in the room then followed this up with a braindate that showcased both Workday’s offerings and IBM’s point of view.
Regulations and Compliance: There was a lack of clarity among some attendees regarding the rules and regulations that apply to AI and automation. For example, many braindates were unaware of NYC Local Law 144 (“NYC 144”), which came into effect on July 5, 2023, and requires employers to confirm that their automated employment decision tools have undergone a bias audit. It’s essential to stay informed about these regulations to avoid any legal or ethical issues. During rising IBM also launched WatsonX.Goverance a new addition to its WatsonX AI solution suite, aimed at enhancing the management and monitoring of AI models
Workday Prism: There was a significant interest in understanding why Workday Prism is the right platform to augment, transform, secure, and present data. Many attendees were interested in comparing Workday Prism to alternatives like Microsoft’s Power BI, and how it can help organisations enhance their data management and analytics capabilities.
Prism use cases: Prism users were eager to learn about the best use cases in the industry, such as enhancing learning, integrating customer satisfaction data into performance reviews, and accelerating M & A activity. If you’re interested in exploring these use cases further, feel free to reach out, and I’m going to host a future Webinar on this later this year.
Workday Rediscovery: Many attendees were interested in identifying best practices to get more out of their existing investment in Workday. IBM’s own Workday rediscovery tool was warmly received, especially its ability to bring leading benchmarks to Workday. If you’d like to discuss this further, please send me a message, and we can set up a conversation.
In summary, Workday Rising 2023 was an excellent opportunity to connect with industry professionals, learn about the latest trends and technologies, and share best practices. If you have any questions or would like to explore any of the topics mentioned above in more detail, feel free to reach out.
Let’s continue the conversation!
