Everyone’s excited about AI
Even on a late night flight home.
I’m probably best known for not being the sharpest dressed consultant here at IBM . So earlier this year I was delighted to be given a Watson X hoodie by Helen Gowler as a thank you for my work at Workday Rising.
✈️ Yesterday, on my flight back to London, a fellow passenger noticed my hoodie and struck up a conversation.
The guy next to me saw the hoodie and then asked if I worked for IBM, and I said yes. We spoke all the way back to London about generative AI and the ethical challenges of using it in HR tech. He loved the fact that as part of our suite of tools, we put a governance capability at the very heart of our product. I even managed to show him our own AskHR chatbot on my iPhone as we cruised home on the plane’s WIFI. This, for me, shows a key message that I’m always preaching: “Start with the experience, don’t just put in AI just to say you have done it.” As a consultant, we travel. I want to book my leave with the same ease I booked my Uber home from the airport think about a consumer grade experience.
A few takeaways from our conversation:
1️⃣ Watson X has excellent brand recognition, and IBM’s investment in developing a full suite of enterprise-ready AI tools is paying off.
2️⃣ People are tired of the smoke and mirrors surrounding AI; they’re hungry for tangible solutions that unlock its true value.
3️⃣ There’s a thirst for knowledge about how GenAI can revolutionize businesses across industries.
